Last Minute Changes to Vista, Why?
Vista is getting closer to release date every day, and every day brings another news article surrounding the operating system. Most recently I have heard that the team has been rushing to make a lot of last minute bug fixes, which I have mixed feelings about. Yes, it’s good that Microsoft is actually fixing these bugs now and not waiting for security updates. I am sure part of the reason behind this decision, is after five years of waiting Microsoft knows that Vista will be under a microscope during release and eliminating as many problems now is good. However, the other side of me thinks why? Why is Microsoft scrambling at the last minute to get things pushed out the door? Especially after 5 years of development time?!? If 5 years wasn’t enough time, how much time is? In addition, last minute changes scare me, especially in an operating system. I have to develop some of those last minute changes myself in projects, and a lot of the time they come back to bite you in the ass. I am hoping that Vista doesn’t become another Windows ME, where it’s just an intermediate release while Microsoft continues to work on what it really wanted to release.
Will I be buying a copy of Vista, yes, I am a developer and will need a couple copies on hand. Will I be installing it on my main machine, not immediately.
