Both Bluray and HD-DVD Cracked

In continued proof that “Doors and windows are to protect you from honest people”, Bluray DRM has reportedly been cracked just weeks after HD-DVD DRM was cracked. What does this tell us? Well not sure, I guess it says that no matter what you can thrown at a determined person time will allow them to deter your protection. In my personal opinion all of the money and time that went into these DRM schemes could have been used to produce better content, and marketing dollars to sell more units. The bottom line is it’s more convenient for a consumer to get their media through a legal source than it is to download it illegal, especially when you are talking about the huge file sizes of Blueray and HD-DVD. Add in the unknown quality of half the illegal content downloaded, and I honestly feel people would rather pay a reasonable price to get the content they want legally.
