A Username Is a Username, Unless It’s an Email Address

How many logins do you have? 100? 200? 500? Are pushing a 1,000? I have a bunch, too many to count. I use the save login feature in Firefox as do many. Have you ever gone to a website where it asks for your username, so you enter the usual “JohnDoe, JohnDoe1, JohnDoeTheStud, JohnDoeTheMan”, only to find out that the username as really your email address? If the login for your site is actually an Email Address, then you should label it so; otherwise it causes confusion.
Just a user interface pet peeve I guess.
