Trying Flock to Replace Firefox
Flock is a "social web browser built off of Firefox", which has a slew of built in widgets that connect to Facebook, Twitter, Flickr, and more. I have been using it for just over 24 hours, and am pleased with it. I originally heard about Flock about a year ago, but had no interest in what appeared to me to be Firefox with some bloated extensions. That will teach me not to judge a book by its cover. Flock actually starts up faster then my Firefox install, and even with all of my Firefox extensions installed it is faster on the browsing side as well.
The social features are great. I am experiencing some problems importing my OPML feed into the RSS feed reader build into Flock. It stops before reaching the end. I really want to get this working, because I actually really enjoy the RSS reader even prefer it over Google Reader.
They are working on implementing GMail for your domain support, and once that is is done I will be sold.
I am wondering how long it will take them to start using the Firefox 3.0 code base, if they already are not.
Overall I am satisfied, the minor problems I have experienced are not enough for me to jump ship. Need to get the RSS reader working…

That was my experience with Flock, too. I eventually went back to Firefox because I loved having my tabs in multi-row formats with the Tab Mix Plus extension, and that view doesn’t work in Flock. I gave myself about 6 months to adjust and never did.
Hopefully, Firefox 3 will be all they’re predicting!
